Tallow Basics

Tallow is the primary ingredient in all Pleasant Prairie skincare products. Our beef tallow is grass-fed and organic, and locally sourced from central Alberta ranches.

Tallow is biocompatible with human skin cells because it is primarily composed of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is the same fatty acid that forms the cell wall of human skin cells. This allows the tallow to be absorbed into the cell, transforming the skin from the cellular level.

When beef tallow come from cows that are grass-fed, the tallow is very dense in nutrients especially fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, K and B12. It is high in anti-oxidants. Tallow also increases the production of collagen in the skin. All of these factors contribute to healthier, younger- looking skin. Tallow can soften fine lines and wrinkles, it can improve elasticity, it can even skin tone and texture.

Not only is tallow extremely rich in nutrients that beautify the skin, it also has a number of healing properties.
